A RIDE TO REMEMBER

The TransWales is a mountain bike challenge that takes place in Wales, attracting professional cyclists from all over the world. This year’s event, 2010 Gore Bike Wear TransWales takes place over 7 days. The event is a mixture of linking stages and special stages which can be entered individually or in pairs.

A series of challenging courses, riders take an easy ride from one stage to the next, known as the linking stages. They then tackle a daring timed course between these linking stages that determines their race ranking. One of the competitive stages (special stages) is set at night adding to the competitions’ challenges as they cycle through forests unsure of what might be round the next corner.

In the words of Nickson, our Kenyan representative sponsored by JW Seagon...”This competition is equivalent to biking for 4 days consecutively. A gruelling, fun experience that pushes riders to the limit...” This is sure to be another memorable challenge for Nickson.

If you would like to follow Nickson’s progress on the Trans Wales event, then please book mark this page. We will be creating a daily update, and Nickson will be giving us the inside scoop, sharing his experiences and challenges.

STAYING THE COURSE

The secret for maximum performance in events lasting more than 2 hours is to snack frequently every 20 to 30 minutes. The idea is to strike a balance between ‘not starving’ and ‘not eating too much’.
